| Grid Vendors Show Their Stuff at LinuxWorld
Vendors are using this week's LinuxWorld conference to unveil new grid computing offerings. EnterpriseDB, ServePath and Appistry unveiled products at LinuxWorld and the adjoining Next Generation Data Center conference. EnterpriseDB unveiled GridSQL for EnterpriseDB Advanced Server, which lets OLAP applications leverage clusters of commodity servers while appearing as a single database to applications, which the company said lets enterprises perfrom complex data warehousing and business intelligence tasks for a fraction of the cost of traditional solutions. With GridSQL, EnterpriseDB said database performance scales nearly linearly as additional servers are added to the grid. The product also lets DBAs monitor the entire grid from a single console. GridSQL uses grid technology to distribute data and share computing resources at the database layer so existing applications can run unchanged and application developers can create new applications as if they were accessing a single database on a single server.

Informatica Strikes OEM Agreement With SAP AG

The uniforms replace the old baggy style that had changed little in the 20-odd years since China's economy began to take off, while a Beijing exhibition is showcasing many of the fruits of years of double-digit increases in defence spending, transforming a military long regarded as huge but vastly outdated. .
